ABOUT THE BUSINESS


SS Garage is a professional automotive repair and servicing workshop based in Epping, Victoria. We provide mechanical repairs, diagnostics, servicing, and maintenance for a wide range of light motor vehicles, including private and fleet customers.

ABOUT THE ROLE


We are seeking a qualified and experienced Automotive Mechanic to join our workshop on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and Australian regulations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Diagnose mechanical faults in engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, and fuel systems using manual and computer-based diagnostic equipment
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer service schedules
  • Change engine oil, filters, lubricants, and fluids, ensuring correct handling and disposal procedures are followed
  • Repair, adjust, or replace worn or defective vehicle components and parts
  • Reassemble engines, systems, and mechanical components following repairs
  • Tune engines and adjust systems to ensure efficient performance and compliance with emission regulations
  • Conduct battery inspections, cleaning, testing, and replacement where required
  • Perform safety and roadworthiness checks prior to vehicle release
  • Test vehicles after repairs and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper performance
  • Maintain accurate service records and provide maintenance recommendations to customers
  • Maintain workshop cleanliness, tools, and equipment in line with WHS requirements
  • Comply with workplace health and safety, environmental, and company policies

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE




Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 years’ relevant experience as an Automotive Mechanic
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of light motor vehicles
  • Knowledge of Australian vehicle safety and emission standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail


Desirable:

  • Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
